GMB Demo To Parliament To Monday 25th June 2007 To Urge Lords To Restore Lost Pleural Plaques Sufferers CompensationAs the House of Lords debate the Pleural Plaques compensation Bill around 200 construction craftsman from all over the UK, including thermal insulation engineers, welders, fabricators and many others will assemble outside Parliament to urge the Lords to restore compensation for sufferers of Pleural Plaques resulting from exposure to asbestos during their working lives. 14 Jun 2007
As the House of Lords debate the Pleural Plaques compensation Bill around 200 construction craftsman from all over the UK, including thermal insulation engineers, welders, fabricators and many others will assemble outside Parliament to urge the Lords to restore compensation for sufferers of Pleural Plaques resulting from exposure to asbestos during their working lives. Workers undertaking manual and physically heavy jobs are particularly affected by this ruling as without it they often have to continue to work in hazardous situations. The demonstration takes place from: 9.30 A.M. ON MONDAY 25TH JUNE 2007 OUTISDE THE HOUSES OF PARLIAMENT WESTMINSTER LONDON Compensation used to be paid to sufferers of Pleural Plaques because of scarring of the lungs and the effects on the victims breathing, but was stopped as a result of a recent court case. John McClean, GMB National Health and Safety Officer said, "The many construction workers and their families have suffered and continue to suffer the devastating effects of plural Plaques.
