The mainly Polish workforce at Luton based fruit importer Pratts Bananas secured trade union recognition and bargaining rights. This has come about as a result of a check conducted by Arbitration & Conciliation Service (ACAS) which established that the majority of the workforce in the bargaining unit at S H Pratt & Co (Bananas) Limited are members of GMB trade union. Alan Costello, GMB Organiser said, “It is impossible to underestimate the importance of today’s result to the mainly migrant workforce at Pratts Bananas. The workforce and GMB have worked towards this day for over two years and the reward for all that hard work is union recognition. GMB members will work with the company to help make it the best employer in Luton and the most successful fruit importer that any supermarket can be proud to work with.” - Ends - Contact: Alan Costello, GMB Organiser on 07974 250946 or GMB Press Office: Rose Conroy on 07974 251823 or Steve Pryle on 07921 289880. |
Inside CampaignsGMB Christmas Appeal Update and AuthenticationThanks to all of you who have already sent cheques to help SITRAP trade union activist, Allan Hernandez Venegas and his family, in response to our GMB Christmas Appeal. Unfortunately, owing to the preponderance of scam e-mails soliciting money, and gremlins in the system that prevented us from including photographs, many of you were not convinced that the appeal was genuine. |
