GMB today represented one of its members employed at M&S in a disciplinary hearing on the issue of release to media of cuts in redundancy pay in the company that became effective today. The member was suspended on full pay on Thursday 21st August and faces the sack for what GMB believe to be legitimate protest over cuts to his pay and conditions of employment at M&S. He is one of 200 GMB members employed at M&S. The hearing began at 12 noon and lasted until 15.00. The company has promised to let GMB know today when the verdict will be available. It will be available either Tuesday (2nd) or Wednesday (3rd) of this week. GMB do not to intend to make any statement on the hearing until the verdict is known.
