Our members, and the local community in and around Bedford will be attending to support the campaign says GMB
GMB is supporting the march and rally against cuts in the NHS in Bedford on Saturday 24th August.
The details of the protest are as follows:
Assemble 12.30pm Move off 1pm
Saturday 24th August
Old Town Hall car park
The march will proceed around the town via Tavistock Street, The Broadway and High Street and back to start point for rally. GMB members will have flags and banners.
In addition to supporting this protest on 24th August, GMB is organising a petition separately.
Richard O Leary GMB Regional Officer said “If the proposals to cut local NHS services are left unchallenged it is being suggested that this could result in a reduced A&E service for children, no trauma unit, no emergency surgery, no complex surgery, no intensive care and no obstetrics for high risk births.
Several demonstrations have already taken place locally and the community that Bedford Hospital serves are deeply concerned by the current situation. Our members, and the local community in and around Bedford will be attending to support the campaign.
GMB believe the March and Rally on 24th August will be very important in demonstrating our collective opposition to these proposals.
GMB is appealing for the public to take the time to come and support this very important demonstration in Bedford.”
