GMB No To Nurses Pay Cut
Tuesday 24th January 2012
GMB TO OPPOSE £40 PER MONTH CUT IN PAY
FOR 1,000 BRIGHTON HOSPITAL TRUST NURSES AND HEALTH PROFESSIONALS
STAFF
If the Trust does not withdraw this
threat of a pay cut GMB will consult our members on what action to
take to oppose this unilateral decision
GMB plan to challenge Graham White Director of
HR for Brighton and Sussex University Hospital Trust who wrote to
more than 1,000 health professionals and Nurses to give notice for
the compulsory withdrawal of a £40 monthly recruitment and
retention premium (RRP) they are paid.
It was agreed that this recruitment and
retention premium payment of £40 per month would be paid to staff
following the introduction of Agenda for Change agreement at the
Trust.
Gary Palmer GMB organiser said “The
Trust management have failed to consult or negotiate with GMB and
are unilaterally implementing this change in RRP. GMB represent
many of the nursing staff within the Trust. If the Trust does not
withdraw this threat of a pay cut we will consult our members on
what action to take to oppose this unilateral
decision.
This is a shoddy way for Graham White
and the Trust to treat health professionals within the Trust, once
again making Nurses pay for a debt they didn’t cause.
The Trust has not undertaking a fair
process of consultation with the GMB. Instead they sent out a
letter intimidating employees into signing contract variations
through the threat of job losses. This will not go unchallenged by
the GMB and our members.”
