JOB LOSSES REACH 450 AT WILTSHIRE COUNTY
COUNCIL SAYS GMB
There are additional cuts to
be formally announced on 28 February which amount to 171
redundancies and the deletion of 58 unfilled posts
GMB public services union commented on
job losses at Wiltshire County Council as a result of cuts in
government grants to fund services in the county.
Andrew Prendergast GMB Regional
Officer for members at Wiltshire Council said "Further to
the previous messages I now have more information in relation to
cuts by
WilshireCountyCouncil.
Cuts already announced cover
174 redundancies and the deletion of 47 unfilled
posts.
There are additional cuts to
be formally announced on 28 February which amount to 171
redundancies and the deletion of 58 unfilled posts.
In relation to the second lot
of cuts, some letters have already gone out about this to GMB
members by mistake. This means the total number of jobs to go at
Wiltshire is 450 in total. We are not clear if this is the full
extent of the jobs to go by the end of the cuts.
I will be meeting with GMB
members at Wiltshire council to see what they want GMB to do about
these job losses. GMB will also be in contact with user groups and
those affected by the cuts in frontline services that will follow
these job cuts"
