GMB Birmingham & West Midlands Region has
signed a collective agreement on Tuesday 17th January 2012 for a
new pay and grading structure for staff working in Dudley
Metropolitan Council after GMB members voted to accept
it.
Mohammed Khalik, GMB Organiser said
“The agreement was reached after lengthy negotiations
between the Trade Unions and the Council. The review of pay
and grading was a requirement to bring pay in the council in line
with Equality legislation.
I am glad that we were finally in a
position to sign a Collective Agreement, as I am aware that not
many have been signed in recent times within this Region. It
is a credit to all involved in the negotiations that we were able
to get to a position where the GMB could recommend the proposal to
its members, as being the best that could be reached through
negotiation. The most important element was the mandate
received from GMB members, with 69% voting in favor of the
proposal.
