MK Drivers DHL Dispute
Monday 20th June 2011
23 DRIVERS JOBS UNDER THREAT
ON HOUSE OF FRASER MILTON KEYNES TRANSPORT CONTRACT
RUN BY DHL
Any driver who does not agree
to transfer on these new conditions to Wellingborough has been
threatened with the sack
The jobs of 23 GMB members working on
the House of Frazer contract based at Milton Keynes, held by DHL,
are under threat as DHL has proposed to move the depot to
Wellingborough. The proposal includes new employment contracts for
the drivers that would cut their pay and conditions.
Alan Costello, GMB Organiser said,
"Any driver who does not agree to transfer on these new
conditions to Wellingborough has been threatened with the
sack.
GMB members have worked on
this distribution contract for many years and it has always been a
good place to work. But that is now in question as current employer
DHL seeks to bin our members employment contracts and force them to
sign up for less money and worse conditions.
GMB is furious at this
proposal. The drivers will have to travel further to get to work
and there is no compensation for that only a pay cutting kick in
the teeth.
GMB is in talks with the DHL
and the members are not up for any cuts."
