GMB And Management To Meet On Wednesday 28th August To Deal With Discontent In Liverpool Biscuit Factory
The company’s desire to amend long-standing agreements to the detriment of members is not acceptable and will be resisted says GMB
There will be a meeting between GMB negotiators and Jacobs Crackers management has been set for Wednesday 28th August to attempt to defuse growing discontent at the factory.
This follows a GMB Branch meeting held on Sunday 18th August where 300 members employed at Jacobs Cracker factory in Aintree discussed the company’s wish to change long-standing agreements and to impose changes if agreement cannot be reached with union members.
Sue Morgan, GMB Organiser said, “GMB is hoping to resolve all the issues that are worrying GMB members at Jacobs Cracker at a meeting with the company on Wednesday 28th August.
The company’s desire to amend long-standing agreements to the detriment of GMB members is not acceptable and will be resisted.
If we are unsuccessful in sorting things out at the meeting on 28th then I will be seeking permission from the GMB Central Executive Council to hold an industrial action ballot of members at the site.”
