GMB Shocked By Threat Of 500 Job Losses At TaTa Steel
GMB reacted with shock and regret to today's announcement that TaTa Steel wants to cut 500 jobs across Scunthorpe, Workington and Teesside.
GMB and other unions will meet the company this Thursday (31st October 2013) at TaTa Steel office in Mill Bank London to discuss this threat to 500 jobs across Scunthorpe, Workington and Teesside.
David Hulse, GMB National Officer said, "This terrible news from TaTa Steel has comes straight out of the blue. It is a shock to the workforces in Scunthorpe, Workington and Teesside.
GMB is bitterly disappointed as earlier this year we saw 1,000 people leave the company and everyone involved has worked hard to make all round improvements. GMB will insist on no compulsory redundancies and to bring the number of job losses right down."
