Work Issues: Union Rights

Union Rights

Can My Employer Stop Me Joining GMB? No. Every worker has the fundamental civil right to join GMB, and to take part in its activities.

Nor can an employer offer better terms and conditions to non-members than to members. Your employer cannot offer you inducements to prevent you joining GMB, taking part in GMB activities or making use of GMB’s expertise in the world of work to improve your pay and conditions. There is also protection against victimisation and dismissal for workers who support GMB’s campaign for trade union recognition at any workplace. More
