Stoke-on-Trent City Council have announced plans to cut pay for around 1000 workers.
Some of the lowest-paid staff, such as care workers, will see their pay cut by up to 20% as a result.
These devastating plans not only threaten the lives of council workers, but also the vital front line services they provide for the residents of Stoke.
At the same time as cutting pay, the council continues to pay external consultants vast sums of public money.
The council has its priorities completely wrong. £5 million a year would be better spent paying council workers, not consultants.
