Stand with Leicester’s refuse workers

GMB is calling on Biffa Leicester to reopen pay talks with its refuse workers who deserve to be paid more than the minimum wage for keeping the city clean and safe. Biffa has shut the door in the face of these key workers in the middle of a pandemic.

Leicester's refuse workers are classed as key workers and have been working around the clock on minimum wage to keep the city safe and clean during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Workers and their GMB representatives have been seeking to negotiate with the employer Biffa for a pay rise, yet Biffa have refused to get back around the table for proper pay talks

With the economic impact of Covid-19, Leicester's refuse workers desparately need the fair pay they have long deserved. We are asking you to show you stand with them by supporting our campaign.

Please show your support for Leicester's refuse workers by signing our petition to Biffa Leicester below.

Give Refuse Workers in Leicester a Fair Deal!

Dear Biffa Leicester,

I'm writing to urge you reopen pay talks with your refuse worker employees and get back round the negotiating table with their GMB representatives.

Your employees are classed as key workers and have been working around the clock to keep Leicester safe and clean during the Covid-19 pandemic.

That they have only been paid the minimum wage for carrying out this essential work is both deeply unfair and desperately inadequate for workers and their families who have to cope with the economic impact of the pandemic.

Your employees have provided the critical services which we have come to rely on through this pandemic. I urge you to do the right thing by re-opening these pay talks and negotiating with GMB representatives for a fair deal.

Yours sincerely,
