Stop Frimley Health NHS Trust outsourcing all non-clinical staff

Frimley Health NHS are currently planning  to form a Wholly Owned Subsidiary (WOS). The WOS is a company set up and owned by the NHS but that operates as a private company. Frimley NHS Trust intend to transfer 1000+ workers out of the NHS and into employment with this WOS.

They have admitted they will no longer need to pay VAT (costing the public purse huge amounts of money) and any new staff employed by the WOS will not receive NHS Pay, terms and conditions or pensions. They are also proposing to transfer land currently owned by the NHS out to this wholly owned subsidiary.

This is privatisation by the back door. GMB call on the Trust management and the government to put an end to this proposal. We ask you to write to your MP to ask them to intervene and oppose the Wholly Owned Subsidiary.

Dear (MP Name),

As one of your constituents I am writing to you about Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust’s current proposal to form a Wholly Owned Subsidiary (WOS).  A Wholly Owned Subsidiary is a company formed by and owned by the NHS but that operates as a private company. Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust are currently proposing to transfer 1000+ non-clinical NHS staff out to this WOS. This includes porters, catering staff, hostesses, cleaners, estates and security staff.

I strongly oppose this proposal and call on you my MP to oppose this proposal as well. Non-clinical NHS staff are essential NHS workers and should stay in the NHS family alongside other NHS workers.

The proposal to form a Wholly Owned Subsidiary is clearly aimed at reducing the trusts VAT bill (WOS do not have to pay VAT) and reducing pay and terms and conditions of NHS staff.  Essentially the trust are making the lowest paid NHS workers’ pay for NHS budget cuts.

There are also proposals to transfer assets such as NHS land and buildings out to this WOS which is extremely concerning.

If you have concerns about this proposal I would ask you to write to Janet King Director of Personnel & Facilities (janet.king@fhft.nhs.uk) and copy in infoso@gmb.org.uk and support our campaign on social media following @GMBSouthern and using the #StopFrimleyWOS.

Yours sincerely,
