SUCCESS: Save Stoke's Teen Pregnancy Team

Big thanks to everyone who signed this petition.

Thanks your support Stoke-on-Trent City Council have altered their plans to axe the city’s teen pregnancy team

Stoke-on-Trent City Council is planning to axe the Sex, Teenagers and Relationships Team.

We believe that this is a vital service and we’re saying 'no cuts to key workers'.

The team provides confidential help, support and advice to girls and boys aged 11 to 17 about sexual health, particularly around unplanned pregnancies.

The team work towards delaying sexual activity in order to prevent pregnancies, as well as providing after-birth support to young mothers to keep them in education.

This is much needed as Stoke still has the 11th worst rate of unplanned pregnancies in England. The team also supports young mums to stay in education so that their life chances are not limited.

Cutting the team to save £273,000 will leave teenagers unsupported and place even more demands on overworked teachers and health visitors.

We call for Stoke-on-Trent City Council to axe this item from their budget and to instead save this vital service.
