Help with logging in


We're sorry to hear you're experiencing problems logging in to the GMB website. Please try the following steps before getting in touch:


Try resetting your password

Please enter your GMB membership number (this will be included in the footer of GMB emails sent to you) and your primary email address used on your account (i.e. the one you receive GMB e-letters to) at this page: https://www.gmb.org.uk/mygmb/password

If successful, you should get a green 'Email sent' message at the top of the screen. Please give up to 30 minutes for the password reset email to arrive in your inbox before getting in contact to check with us.

If you get an error message saying the membership number and email address combination is not known, either the number or email does not match our membership record.


Check your membership number

GMB membership numbers are formatted as 7 characters long, with the first or last character being a letter. If you are trying a membership number ending/starting with a number 1, it should probably be a capital letter I (unless your number starts/ends with a different letter already). 

If you are using a membership number ending in an L, this is your temporary number issued to you when you joined. Please try and locate your permanent one. They can be found in the footer of GMB e-letters sent to you so search through your inbox.


Still not working? Try a different email address

If the membership number is correct, it might be that you have not used the PRIMARY email address associated with your account. This will be the email we sent e-letters to, so please search your inboxes for 'hello@gmb.org.uk'

If you can think of or locate another email address you might have used to sign up with (i.e. your work/personal/an old email), please try the above step again with that email address.

If this works for an email address that you no longer have access to, please let GMB know so that we can manually update your email address within the membership system. In this scenario, please email mygmb@gmb.org.uk with your membership number, old email address and new email address.


Still not working? You may need to assign an email to your account

It may be that you did not provide an email address and other information when you joined GMB.

Please fill in the details on this page to set up your online MyGMB account: https://www.gmb.org.uk/mygmb/set-account-email

Again, if successful you should get a green message at the top of the screen.


Have you successfully reset your password, but you still can't log in?

In this case it’s likely that your website browser is storing old, incorrect information. Please try the following:

- Clear your cache & cookies in browser history settings
- Reset your password once more 
- When taken to the GMB website to login, manually type the password (do not use any password managers as this may be storing the old password)


Issue still not resolved?

If none of this works, there may be something we need to do on our side.

Please email mygmb@gmb.org.uk with a brief description of the issue you're having or which stage you cannot get past, detailing the following:

- Your GMB membership number

- The email address you wish to use for your account

- Your home postcode

- Your date of birth

- Any error message given by the website

- The device and web browser you are using when getting an error
