Boris Johnson must put his money where his mouth is and back Harland and Wolff says GMB union.

Workers at the world famous ‘Titanic’ yard in Belfast will find out their fate at 5pm today.

If no buyer can be found, the yard may close with the loss of 132 jobs.

Tim Roache, GMB General Secretary, said:

"It's high time Boris Johnson put his money where his mouth is and produced a plan to save Harland and Wolff.

“I’ve been to Belfast to stand with our members - this is a fight for their jobs and livelihoods, but it’s about the wider future of our manufacturing industry too.

"The future of Harland and Wolff is more than a ‘commercial issue’ that the Prime Minister can stand by and do nothing about

“We’re sick of good jobs being sent overseas when skilled workers in UK and Ireland are facing the dole.

“If Boris Johnson is serious about investing in nations and regions, in creating skilled jobs and opportunities, then action is needed right now."
