With a cost-of-living crisis hitting communities and working people hard, more and more people are turning to their local foodbank for support.

That's why GMB Midland & East Coast region have been working with the Trussell Trust across the region to provide £5,000 of support for those in our communities most in need.

Donations were made to foodbanks in Nottingham, Lincoln, Coalville, Leicester, Scunthorpe, Hull, Beverley, Mansfield, Kettering, Corby, South Normanton, Long Eaton, Beeston and Arnold.

Martin Allen, GMB Midlands & East Coast Regional Secretary, said:

"Supporting our communities is central to who we are as the GMB trade union.

Our members work in all sectors and live in communities up and down the region, that's why it's so important that we mobilise this support for foodbanks doing such important work in the region.

Foodbank use has soared in recent years, with over 56,000 emergency food parcels distributed to families in the East Midlands alone last spring and summer.

Britain needs a pay rise and GMB is 100% committed to delivering just that”.
