Sellafield's largest industrial trade union has today commented on two days of talks around pay at Sellafield.

GMB, the solely recognised trade union at Mitie for Soft Services at Sellafield in Cumbria, spoke out after two days of talks with Mitie in Cumbria -  which Unite also attended.

GMB said in terms of addressing low pay, and as the only recognised union, the talks were a potential real step forward.
The union added further talks were being arranged to take place on Thursday 13th June 2019 to enable further progress to take place in good faith

GMB confirmed the talks were open and honest around the table over the two days and GMB confirmed that they will now pursue the issue of low pay as the solely recognised trade union within the Mitie Soft Services.

Billy Coates, GMB Regional Secretary, said:

"Our overtures in the talks have been genuin

“We also fully understand that there is a commercial aspect to this by way of re-tender

“GMB understands there is a way forward - notwithstanding current tendering procedures to address low pay in Mitie

“That is something that Mitie and its solely recognised trade union, GMB, will now focus upon".
