GMB has backed Hope Not Hate's campaign opposing a no deal 'Chaos Brexit' launched by Gordon Brown today.

The group will today reveal major new polling showing a strong majority of Brits reject a hard Brexit.

Tim Roache, GMB General Secretary, said:

"Crashing out with no deal will plunge the UK economy into recession, cause chaos for many industries and put hundreds of thousands of decent jobs put at risk.

“The price of essential items like food would soar and plunge even more people into poverty.

“There is no adequate plan for our ports, manufacturing industries or our public services that could manage such economic meltdown.

“No responsible politician - who is thinking about the public good not self-interest and internal party politics - would even consider allowing the UK to crash out without a deal.

“Because even then, we still have to go back to the EU and negotiate a trade deal.

“No deal makes no sense.”
