GMB the energy union, has commented on today’s announcement Npower parent company Innogy has been acquired by E-On.

E-On has now become the majority owner in Innogy.

GMB says Npower – as a significant employer in the North East - needs to ensure that full operations and footprint  are maintained in the region.

Laura Gatiss, GMB Officer, said:

“This announcement means GMB members are naturally worried about their jobs, and have been told there are significant changes ahead.

“GMB is committed to fighting to protect our members’ terms, conditions and mitigating any potential redundancies.

“As well as being a major employer Npower needs to understand that any major transformation in UK Operations could have a detrimental impact on our local communities

“GMB will make further comment in due course.”
