WPD Pay - Members Update

Firstly, I want to personally thank you for your commitment and solidarity during the past few months as we navigated what have been difficult and frustrating pay negotiations.

GMB members voted in droves against the offers received to date, your bravery, steadfastness, and pursuit of respect from your employer has secured a further 1.5% pay increase from the initial offer of 4%, fully consolidated, and will apply to all flow throughs.

This has been achieved through overwhelming ballot paper returns, and for me, this proved to both your employer, to your EBF and representatives around the country YOUR strength as the GMB collective.

Together we can achieve great things.

You should not underestimate the power you have built through these negotiations. Not only has YOUR strength secured a further pay increase it also paves the way for future negotiations as WPD becomes integrated to National Grid.

We must build on our strength, and I call out for members in every Department across the business to become a GMB Workplace Rep – a valuable, fulfilling, and privileged role to hold - for it is only thanks to your workplace representatives, consulting, engaging, and leading, that this increase was possible.

We need you to guide us through the next 12-24 months to ensure GMB members remain strong, and your voices are heard from every corner of the business.

The consultative ballot will open on Monday 27th June with workplace ballots taking place where possible.  The ballot will close mid-day on Friday 15th July 2022.

The GMB is recommending that you ACCEPT the offer.

The FINAL offer as set out by WPD is:

5.5% increase on all salaries and flow throughs – backdated to 01 April 2022

.An enhancement to the Western Power Pension Scheme through increasing the maximum employer contribution from 10% to 12% with an effective date of 1 April 2023.

Providing all WPD employees with the opportunity to participate in a WPD sponsored private healthcare plan

Commitment to an in-sourced model
