JOB DESCRIPTION
GMB London Region has a vacancy for the position of Education and Equality Officer based in the Region.
We are seeking applications from committed and experienced candidates to join our London Region as a Regional Education & Equality Officer. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in developing our activist base and driving forward our equality agenda.
The successful candidate will develop and deliver training throughout the entire region. As the post will cover the entirety of the Region, it will require a degree of flexibility to necessitate periods of travel and time away from home.
As part of our commitment to building a modern, inclusive trade union reflective of UK society, the successful candidate will:
- Lead the planning, delivery, and evaluation of a high-quality education and training programme for our lay activists and staff.
- Support the Region to deliver on organising objectives by embedding a strong learning culture across our structures.
- Proactively promote equality and diversity, advising on legal responsibilities and best practice, and supporting members and officials on equality matters.
- Build networks internally and externally to advance lifelong learning and equality initiatives.
We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate:
- A proven track record in trade union organisation and developing an organising culture.
- Experience in designing and delivering training programmes for trade union activists and staff.
- Strong knowledge of equality law and policies, and a proactive approach to driving positive change.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively across a wide range of stakeholders.
- Competency in producing reports, analysing data, and managing training administration systems.
