We are currently seeking applications for a Head of Research & Policy vacancy based at our National Office in London.
An exciting opportunity has arisen at GMB’s National Office to lead a dynamic and progressive team in developing and delivering on key industrial, political and campaigning strategy.
Our research and policy work is central to achieving our purpose of delivering for our members: the Head of Research & Policy will lead a department that brings together the political, campaigns and industrial agendas of the Union through sound research work and forward-thinking policy formation. The post-holder will provide vital support, advice and guidance to the General Secretary, senior management and industrial officers, as well as influence and lead the union’s wider external activities within the research and policy fields, including:
- developing and delivering targeted policy strategies for engagement with the GMB membership;
- supporting our influencing and campaigning activities;
- developing key relationships on behalf of the union with people in government, the public sector, academics, and other key research and policy organisations
in order to ensure the department delivers the maximum possible impact for the wider work of the union.
Reporting directly to the Head of Campaigns & Communications, the post-holder will enjoy broad scope to shape the Union’s policy development and implementation as well take a leading collaborative role with other senior officers in shaping the union’s broader industrial agenda.
Information about the role:
- The successful post-holder will be expected to attend regional or national meetings/events.
- The hours of work for this post are designated as ‘unspecified’, and there will be a requirement for the successful candidate to work unsocial hours, which may include some weekend or evening work, when required by the role.
