  • Identifying emerging training needs and integrating them into the programme.

Health, Safety & Environment

  • Acting as the first point of contact for health & safety queries from members, postholders, and Officials.
  • Supporting Regional Officials to resolve workplace health & safety concerns, including workplace visits, inspections, research, and reports.
  • Assisting the National Health & Safety Officer with implementing GMB health, safety, and environmental policies and campaigns.

General Responsibilities

  • Providing advice to the Regional Secretary regarding the health, safety, and welfare of regional staff.
  • Building strong working relationships with training providers, educational institutions, government bodies, and other relevant organisations.
  • Engaging with local media to promote GMB’s profile on training, education, and workplace safety.

About You

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Passionate about education, lifelong learning, and improving workplace health & safety.
  • Able to communicate confidently and credibly with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Highly organised, self‑motivated, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
  • Comfortable teaching, presenting, and leading training sessions.
  • Skilled at building relationships and working collaboratively.
  • Have strong knowledge of trade union structures, training provision, and workplace health & safety legislation.

In return, we offer excellent terms and benefits, including:
