GMB, the union for Asda workers, has praised moves by the supermarket giant to show support to the people of Ukraine.

Asda today announced a £1 million package to support displaced Ukrainian families in Europe and the UK.

The supermarket giant also said it would stop selling products which originate in Russia ‘for the foreseeable future’.

Nadine Houghton, GMB National Officer, said:

‘’Asda’s efforts to support people in Ukraine is to be applauded.

“We don’t always see eye to eye with the Asda top brass, but credit where it is due, they are doing the right thing.

“GMB’s Asda workers stand in solidarity with Ukrainian retail and distribution workers during this appalling invasion.”
