GMB Union has today [Thursday 9 July] welcomed news that the government has granted Sizewell B a 20-year life extension.
The union has long been an advocate for nuclear power and represents workers at the Sizewell B and C sites.
Tony Tanushi, GMB Regional Organiser, said:
"The extended life span of Sizewell B will help bolster Britain's energy security in the face of volatile fossil fuel markets and global conflict.
"This decision is fantastic news for our skilled, dedicated members at Sizewell B, and represents an important development for the country's net zero ambitions.
"GMB is pleased to see this government continuing to invest in our nuclear heritage and delivering nuclear energy infrastructure fit for the future, which will bring skilled jobs and clean power.
