GMB Union has responded to the first part of the Government's ten year plan for the NHS, announced today [Wednesday].
Sharon Wilde, GMB National Officer, said:
"This plan appears to address a problem GMB has raised for many years; many patients are best served closure to home rather than in hospital.
"Alleviating the intense pressure on A&Es up and down the country will allow our ambulance workers do be where they should be - saving lives, not spending their entire shift queuing up outside hospitals.
"But any NHS plan must invest in and recognise the value of it's biggest asset - the workforce.
"GMB looks forward to this being addressed as soon as possible in the next stage of the plan."
