GMB Trade Union - Nestle private equity sale must protect workers' rights

Nestle's sale of Prince's Gate Water to a private equity vehicle must not lead to a 'bonfire of workers' rights', GMB Union has warned,

The bottled water company - currently owned by Nestle - is set to be offloaded to Platinum Equity.

Confectionary company Nestle, which will retain a substantial interest in the business, earlier this year announced more than 450 jobs will be slashed across the country.

Charlotte Brumpton-Childs, GMB National Secretary, said:

"We've seen all too often selling a business to private equity results in a bonfire of terms and conditions as find managers desperately try to squeeze out every last drop of profit.

"That cannot be allowed to happen at Prince's Gate Water, or Nestle, where workers have already suffered months of fear and uncertainty.

"GMB Looks forward to working constructively with the new owners to keep Prince's Gate Water a profitable company where workers current terms, benefits and conditions are protected."
