GMB Trade Union - Northampton bin strike called off

Northampton town’s bin strike has been called off after workers won a ‘significant’ new pay deal.

Industrial action - which could affect 94,000 homes – was due to take place later this month.

But GMB members have now voted to accept a new deal which will see loaders paid £10 per hour for loaders and £12 for drivers.

The two year deal will also increase with inflation next year.

Dave Warwick, GMB Organiser, said:

“GMB members have stood together and won a significant pay deal.

“This extra money in their pay packets will help them make ends meet during this crushing cost of living crisis.

“The workers should be very proud of themselves – and Veolia must be congratulated for listening to them.”
