GMB Union has responded to reforms to sentencing, announced today [Thursday]
George Georgiou, GMB National Officer, said:
"We welcome these reforms, which are a bold and radical attempt to address the current crises in the department.
"But we firmly believe that the most effective way to enact these reforms is to attract more police officers and more probation officers.
"And the best way to do this is to restore their pay levels which have been so drastically undermined by years of austerity and the cost of living crisis."
