GMB Trade Union - Strike looms at Stafford abrasives company

Our members are sick of getting rough end of deal from sandpaper company

Strike action looms at a Saint Gobain, in Stafford, over a pay dispute.

Bosses at the company, which makes sandpaper, diamond blades, tools and other abrasives are tying to impose a real terms pay cut on GMB members.

GMB will begin a consultative ballot this month, with a full strike ballot to follow.

Stuart Harrison, GMB Organiser, said:

"In the midst of the worst cost of living crisis in a generation, bosses expect our members to accept a real terms pay cut.

"A 3 per cent pay offer doesn't even scratch the surface given the pressure our members are under. It simply isn't good enough

“Our members are sick of getting the rough end of the deal.”
