Workers are furious after school bosses demand more work for less money, says GMB union.
GMB Union has today announced that workers at a West Midlands primary school will stage strike action next week.
Schools support staff at Doxey Academy in Stafford, owned by Creative Learning Partnership Trust, will down tools after school bosses threatened to impose a new contract on staff.
The new contract will see support staff and Teaching Assistants paid only for term time work. The changes could see some staff as much as £6,000 worse off a year.
Strike action will begin on Wednesday 2 July.
Russell Farrington, GMB Organiser, said:
“These workers have had the threat of a devastating salary cut dropped on them from a huge height, with little or no notice.
“They’re walking out next week because they want what is best for the entire school community, not education on the cheap.
"They're being asked to do more work for
less money; we're calling on school bosses to be fair and get back around
the table".
