Covid waster 'latest shameful episode'

GMB Union has responded to the £10 billion of taxpayers money being wasted on PPE during the pandemic, according to the Covid Inquiry. 

Rachel Harrison, GMB National Secretary, said:

“The PPE waste outlined by the covid inquiry today is the latest shameful episode in the way the Government of the time handled this pandemic.

“While workers died and care homes turned into morgues, Ministers threw away taxpayers money, lined the pockets of their pals and partied away while the rest of us were in lockdown.

“Lessons must be learned so when the next pandemic hits we have a healthy nation, a resilient NHS and care sector and a Government which has properly prepared.”
