GMB members at Herman Miller’s factory in Melksham, Wiltshire will be taking strike action over pay.
The members will walk out on Thursday 24 September, having rejected three pay offers so far.
The company makes office furniture (chairs, desks, lighting and office accessories) as well as home furnishings, with some pieces costing several thousand pounds.
Furniture production will be affected, including to their high-profile customers including Amazon and Apple.
Kasia Naskretska, GMB Regional Organiser said:
“This is a successful, solvent company, whose contracts with famous brands are generating profits and dividends for their shareholders.
“All our members want is a slice of that pie, given it is they who are making the furniture in the first place.
“These are skilled workers, making expensive items and they deserve to get a pay rise which reflects the market rate, their expertise and the level of profit the company is making.
“We should be celebrating the successes of British manufacturing and that starts by paying the wealth generators their fair share.”
