GMB Trade Union - Derby food couriers win 'dignity'

GMB members in the Derby have been campaigning for the right to wait inside for food orders.

GMB Union, representing food and delivery couriers across Derby, have today welcomed the news that popular local restaurant Wendy's has scrapped a controversial policy forcing couriers to wait outside for food orders.

The news comes after months of negotiations and campaigning, which saw GMB members stage a protest in Derby earlier this year.

Claude Bahati, GMB Organiser, said:

"This is a big win for the collective strength of food delivery couriers.

"When we work together, we can deliver the dignity and changes we know are necessary in our industry.

"It was unacceptable that couriers were being left out in the cold and rain for food orders.

"We welcome the serious engagement from Wendys' Derby on this issue.

"This is a model of how restaurants should take delivery workers, and their union, seriously on the issues impacting local couriers"
