DS SMITH NATIONAL PAY UPDATE

Posted on:

Dear GMB Member,

This briefing only applies to sites that take part in national rather than local pay bargaining.

Thank you to all members who voted in the ballot and took part in the democratic process. Thank you also to all your reps for their hard work in the negotiations and balloting process.

As a reminder, the offer was for a 3.25% pay rise on a one-year deal. The votes have now been counted and verified and the results are in...

82.5% ACCEPT

17.5% REJECT

Therefore we have let the company know that the offer can now be paid, starting from the next available pay date.

If you have any further questions please speak with your reps.

Lastly, we would like to extend our solidarity with our brothers and sisters at the Launceston site which is currently proposed to be shut down.

In solidarity,

Matt Roberts, National Officer for Paper & Packaging, GMB Union

Norman Robb, DS Smith National Chair, GMB Union

DS SMITH 2026 PAY OFFER

Posted on:

Dear GMB Member,

Following extensive and constructive negotiations between the parties, we are pleased to confirm we have secured a best and final position to take to a workplace ballot.

Your GMB and Unite negotiating team strongly recommend acceptance of the proposal.

Despite many positives, it is clear to the parties there are currently challenges within the business including difficult market conditions and continued cost pressures with a need to focus on controlling costs, both now and in the future.

The proposal is for a 3.25% increase to all aspects of pay in line with previous practice with effect from 1st May 2026 for those employees in the bargaining unit.

In addition, as part of the Company’s Diversity, Equity and inclusion agenda, a working party will be set up with the GMB and Unite to include a review of the Company’s family friendly policies.

Should you have any questions please speak with your trade union representatives. Please ensure you vote in the ballot.

In Solidarity,

Matt Roberts

GMB National Officer
