A Teesside wind firm faces a strike vote after workers turned down a pay deal.
More than 150 GMB members working at Seah Wind will today [Tuesday] begin voting on industrial action after rejecting imposed shift allowances and a 3.1 per cent pay offer that's both below inflation and industry standards.
The company, which builds wind turbine monopiles in Middlesbrough, has received millions of pounds of Government money in subsidies to boost the production of green energy
Industrial action will inevitably impact upon the vital net zero energy agenda.
Andrew Blunt, GMB Organiser said:
‘Seah Wind should be the model of future industry on Teesside.
"Yet despite its promise of a greener, fairer future - bosses are holding on to bad working practices.
"Workers overwhelmingly rejected this frankly miserly pay offer and instructed us to move to a formal strike ballot.
"Seah must commit to decent working conditions for these workers, who are building the future of energy in the UK.
"We are simply asking for them to listen to union members and get to the negotiating table."
